Our Family Intends to embark on a journey around Australia starting in 2010 or 2011 for around 12 months. Our family consists of 2 adults, Matt & Mindy and our two sons who will be aged 2 and 3 years old, Cayden & Owen. We plan to take approximately 12 months to circumnavigate Australia by vehicle and camper trailor. We will be documenting our plans for the trip in the forums and our photo galleries. Sponsorship of our trip is open to any company who feels that they can offer support to the experience. We also encourage any business owners around this great nation to contact us if they would like to have their venue, product or event reviewed as we travel.
Our itinerary is still being planned and is subject to obtaining enough sponsorship to make it possible. Our rough plans are as follows:
Depart from Melbourne
This will be our departure destination, as it is from where we fare. We will travel South of Melbourne to Tasmania by boat and then drive to as many destinations as possible in Tassie.
Tasmania
We hope to ferry ourselves, the kids and the vehicle over the bass strait to Tasmania, where we can stay for approx 4-6 weeks, travelling to as many destinations as we can and finding the best spots for families in this amazing state. Following this, we plan to ferry ourselves, back to Melbourne where we set out North toward Sydney via Canberra.
Canberra
We plan to drive for around 14 days from Melbourne to Sydney via Canberra. Here we hope to explore as many family activities as we can taking the kids all around the many lovely areas here. After leaving Canberra, we will dash over to the South Coast NSW, Batemans Bay and treck back to Tuross Head, where we used to live for some fishing. We then intend to head on up to Sydney via the coast road stopping in at the many coastal towns along the way (Including Nowra, Where Mindy lived for 10 years)
Sydney
Matt and Mindy were born in Sydney, so it will be interesting to go back for a visit. Here we will catch up with some family and friends and attend many of the attractions for families in this great city. We aim to do a lot of reviewing here as there are many activities to do and see in Sydney and surrounds. family holiday
North Coast NSW/ Brisbane
We then intend to travel north from Sydney through Newcastle, Byron Bay, Coffs Harbour toward Brisbane. We intend to take around 4 weeks to do this journey as there are so many towns and activities for families along this stretch.
Brisbane- Northern QLD
We then intend to do the long trek from Brisbane to Cairns, where we will stop at any enticing destinations including Mackay and Rockhampton. Along the way, we will definitely head out to Fraser Island for a few days, Matt has been before, but Mindy has never had the joy of expeiencing this amazing place. We then intend to head West along to top of Australia toward Darwin.
The Savannah Way- Cairns to Broome
Our plans then extend to the Great Savannah way from Cairns all the way to Broome. Of course, when we get to Katherine we plan to head North to Darwin and spend some time there. This journey would obviously take some weeks to complete with many family experiences to be had.
The West Coast- Broome- Perth
Our journey would then extend from Broome to Perth, heading south along the West Coast of Australia. We are sure to see beautiful and rugged coastline. We would allow a couple of weeks to complete this long adventure.
Perth-Adelaide
We then plan to travel from Perth to Adelaide, experiencing the Nullarbor Plain and the vast Aboriginal heritage that extends along this area. We intend to go to Kangaroo Island and spend a few days there before heading to our last leg of the journey back to Melbourne.
Adelaide- Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road
The last leg of our journey would see us travel from Adelaide, through the Grampians and along the Great Ocean Road. We intend to take our time and head back exploring all of the family activities and venues that there are along the way.
